Well, I took the plunge spending $574 on Black Friday online purchases this year.
I’ve decided to buy a new hosting service for my websites. Now on the surface, this might seem odd since I can have unlimited domains on my site with my current host. The primary reasons I decided to make this purchase are because of speed and reliability. While my current host has been decent, I think that the jump to the HostGator could provide more speed and stability. I’m keeping my current host too, but if the jump to my new host pans out, I might move everything over.
My next two purchases were SEO software, but that’s boring and nobody gets into that so I’ll skip it.
My final purchase was a new Canon PowerShot SX150 Camera!
This particular Camera was $100 off the original price of $250, but the real selling point was the 12x optical zoom (we all know that digital zoom sucks)! That means I’ll be able to take pictures of things that normally would be very difficult for me to capture!
You may have noticed that everything I mentioned above is for my blog site! I didn’t really spend anything on myself or for my family. My family shopping was done a long time ago.
Well, this Black Friday has been the most I have ever spend on Black Friday. In fact, if you add the amount that I spent on all of the previous Black Fridays days, this day tops them! The funny thing is I expect to spend more next year, if all goes well!
Regards,
Don
So what was the SEO software? It’s not boring.
Well, primarily a new premium theme package. I discovered that my beta theme has issues that might be hurting my SEO score…
I just bought the Lifestyle theme from StudioPress. The theme I have now has been customized to the point I can’t change simple things on my blog, like sidebar width. And that bugs the heck out of me! They have a 25% off sale going until 5:00 PM PST Cyber Monday.
Sweet camera! I want to add my own video to the blog, so an iPhone could be in the cards in the very near future.
Yes! I believe that this camera will allow my to expand my image library vastly (or so I hope).
Video is on my radar too, but I’m too busy presently… Perhaps next year!
Happy Thanksgiving! Besides the camera purchase those are business expenses, so they don’t count lol
You caught me 🙂
Even the camera is for my online businesses. The 12x zoom will make things possible that weren’t there before! I’m stoked!
Happy Thanksgiving! Like the earlier comemnt, what SEO software?
Thanks!
I discovered a problem with my current theme and the way some of the meta data is being formed. So I decided to take the premium theme splash and buy on to replace it with.
I like the camera too. I think I will switch to HostGator next year since I just renewed.
Thanks!
I’m hoping HostGator will do wonders from a speed perspective for me blog. Time will tell. Now I just need time to switch it over…
I am with HG and highly recommend them, they’ve been great so far so good move Don!
I hope so… My current provider has improved, but I now want what everybody else has told me is the best.
Good luck with the jump and transition!
One thing I’ve realized is that whatever host we go to, there are always problems. But, if it’s priced right, why not!
I spent about $500 so far as well. However, I used an online income Challenge I wrote about on Yakezie.com to do so.
Best, Sam
Thanks!
Yes, I agree, I’m sure I’ll have a few problems with my new host too. I just have a feeling that their technology might be a little better.
I haven’t done as well with online income as some. I’ll have to read your article. 🙂
Time has been a scarce resource for me anymore.
Good jump on the camera. Interesting thoughts on the premium theme. I’m also considering an upgrade, but not because I thought it was impairing SEO. I hope that’s not one of the reasons my blog is still in PR2 land.
When I chose my theme, I did it based on looks. It was a great looking financial theme, but it was a beta product. Now after two years I know why…
I have noticed that my new digital camera (purchased over Easter) doesn’t have very good zoom…I hope you enjoy yours!
I hope so too!
I don’t really have a camera for taking pictures now, and I’ve been thinking about buying one for taking pictures for this blog for a long time. 🙂
Like the camera! FT is hosted on blue host and I am not impressed. Will probably switch to hostgator where we have an ecommerce site.
Let me know if the switch help with speed. My site is pretty slow and I’m not sure who is at fault. I will change to a faster theme soon as well.
