Thinking about 2010 New Year, Random Thoughts

I can’t believe I writing this article on Christmast Day (for tomorrow’s post).

I only have 6 more days left of the 2009 year to formulate my plans for next year.  The following are just some random thoughts I’m having:

  • The MoneyReasons.com site hasn’t progressed as much visually as I had hoped, so that will be a top priority of the first quarter of 2010.
  • I’m thinking of developing a patternized posting format.  Currently (with the exception of a few series I have), I kind of write about what I think of on a day by day basis (kind of like living paycheck to paycheck).  I’ll be going for a more structured approach next year.
  • I still haven’t formalized (or organized) my financial plan for the extra money I’ll have at my disposal after our mortgage is paid off in Feb. 2010…  This is something I don’t want to rush in though, after all, this will be a new financial foundation for me.
  • I’ve been thinking of changing what I invest in for my kids, but this will take a back seat to my mortgage-free finance planning.  Besides they are in good stuff for now.
  • This might sound odd, but I’m excited about starting to get back into shape (diet and exercise) via frugal means.
  • I have to post a “Reasons to save Money” post soon.  I feel a bit like a hypocrite not having that list and having a blog called Money Reasons.
  • I want to be more socially creative than I am presently.  Writing to this blog (almost) daily, has improved my communications skills (I hope).
  • I definitely want to expand the Dividend/Goal Funds I’ve been working on…  See my Lunch Experiment/Spot Budget post for details of one such fund.

Well, back to Christmas for me 🙂

  1. Merry Christmas D, and look forward to seeing your concrete goals for 2010!

Once you formalize yourself, I’m afraid it MIGHT take away some of the fun of writing. It’s good to have some semblance of formality, but living paycheck to paycheck is more thrilling! 🙂

  2. @Financial Samurai,

Thanks! I think 2010 will be a much more exciting year for me.

I’ve been having a great time with it some far. I hope putting a little structure in my schedule won’t destroy the fun!

Wishing you the best in 2010!

  3. I like “random thoughts” … both in your posting above and in general writing, there is something about them that is more “raw”, to the nerve, and honest.

If the objective of this goal is to earn some shekels then the random thoughts do indeed need some sort of a structure. I am sure you will find a good mix between the two.

Great success in 2010 and beyond!

  4. @Valentina
    Thanks,
I figured the end of the year is a slow but transitional period of time for bloggers. So, I’m kind of cheating with this post by thinking outloud while I type.

I’m going to try to make 2010 and very eventful year (2009 sucked!)…

    Good luck to you!

  5. I look forward to reading more from you in 2010. I too agree with the visual aspect of it. My low-tech skills has definitely impeded that goal.

Also, my goal for my blog ended up changing. Before my break for the exams I was spenting a lot of time blogging and reading other blogs and I also started twittering. It was very time consuming. Now, I only read blogs selectively and check out a blog once a week and don’t twitter. I only post when I have something to say. It has become more personal and I think it will attract less readers than my former method but for now the amount of time is manageable and I find it more enjoyable.

  6. Your site looks great! I’m a techie by trade, but I’m a microsoft techie mainly… Linux is cool so far though.

Sad to hear that you’ll be out there less, you have a unique voice in the blogsphere… But I understand where you are coming from, blogging is kind of addicting…

I think as long as you stay with it to some degree, that would still be good. Your trade profession comes first!

Good luck, I hope the new year finds you well!!!
